Truth from the Right Source
The more you walk with God, the more you’ll learn this truth: not every voice that sounds true comes from Him.
Real spiritual authority requires discernment—knowing the difference between truth that sets you free and half-truths that lead you astray.
In Acts 16, Paul and Silas encountered a slave girl who followed them day after day shouting,
“These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved.”
— Acts 16:17
Everything she said was accurate. But something was wrong. Her words came from a demonic spirit that was using truth to manipulate.
Paul didn’t want a demonic endorsement. He turned and said to the spirit,
“In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!”
And at that moment, the spirit left her.
That’s spiritual authority in action.
Paul didn’t respond to flattery. He didn’t seek validation from the wrong source.
He knew that truth from the enemy’s mouth is always distorted. The gospel doesn’t need validation from darkness—it carries its own light.
There are moments when the enemy will whisper just enough truth to confuse you or discourage you. It might sound right, but it leads your heart off course. That’s why it’s so vital to stay grounded in the Word, filled with the Spirit, and surrounded by godly community.
The more you know Jesus, the easier it becomes to recognize His voice—and to reject every counterfeit.
Your spiritual authority grows from your source.
If your truth comes from God, your authority carries heaven’s weight.
If your truth comes from the world, your authority will always be hollow.
Stay connected to the source of truth, and you’ll carry power that changes atmospheres.
Reflection
Are there voices, influences, or messages in your life that sound true but pull you away from God’s peace and Word? How can you return to the true source of your authority this week?
Prayer
Father, thank You for Your truth that sets me free. Help me to hear Your voice above every other. Give me discernment to recognize when something sounds true but is not from You. Fill me with the Holy Spirit, and let Your Word be my guide in all things.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
