Life Comes at You Fast

You ever feel that?

There are moments in life when everything slows down, just enough for you to take a breath. You start thinking about where you’ve been, what God has done, and where He might be leading you next.

When these moments come up, something in your soul says:
“Don’t miss this.”

I’m at one of those moments.
This week I’m turning 40 years old.

It feels crazy to say that, and it’s leading me to look back and remember what God has done in my life.

The Power of Nostalgia

We live in a world that is obsessed with nostalgia.
We all love the good ol’ days.

I just saw Back to the Future in theaters.
40 years later and this movie is still awesome!

Why? Because nostalgia is powerful.
It reminds us of who we were.
It stirs up joy, wonder, and awe.
It transports us to a moment we forgot we needed to remember.

But here’s the thing. Nostalgia doesn’t have to be empty sentiment.
It can become a sacred moment.
A reminder that God has been with you the whole time.

That’s how I feel when I look back. Not only at movies and moments, but at the faithfulness of God woven through the years.

I tell my boys all the time:
Remember this moment.
Remember this feeling.

Why? Because God is in it.

Sometimes we get so busy we forget the goodness of God. We forget the prayers He’s answered, the joy He’s brought, the peace we didn’t expect but received anyway.

So here’s what I’m doing this week, and maybe it’s something you can do too:

  • Slow down.

  • Remember what God has done.

  • Let gratitude rise up in your heart.

  • Mark the moment.

Not to get stuck in the past, but to step forward in faith.

Prayer

Father, thank You for the memories, the milestones, and the moments that mark my life. Help me to never forget Your faithfulness. Teach me to slow down and give thanks. I trust You with my past, and I trust You with my future.
Amen.
