Anointed for Purpose

Have you ever thought, “I’m nothing special. I’m just me.”
It’s easy to believe that anointing is for someone else—kings, priests, prophets, pastors. But the truth of Scripture says something greater: every believer in Jesus is anointed.

To be anointed means you are chosen and empowered by God for a purpose.
That’s not a title you earn. That’s an identity God gives.

In the Old Testament, oil was poured on the heads of kings, priests, and prophets. It was the sign they were set apart for God’s work. But now, in Christ, every believer carries the Spirit of God. The moment you said yes to Jesus, His Spirit came to live in you.

“Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.”
— 2 Corinthians 1:21–22

You might feel ordinary, but God calls you anointed. You may think your life is small, but God has marked you for His kingdom. The Spirit of God in you is proof that you belong to Him and that He has a purpose for your life.

And with His Spirit comes power:

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
— Acts 1:8

That’s who you are: chosen, empowered, filled.
You are not waiting for God to give you something more. You already have His Spirit. You already carry His power.

Reflection

Wherever you are this week—at work, at home, in church—pause and remind yourself: I am chosen. I am empowered. I am anointed for purpose. How does that truth change the way you step into your day?

Prayer

Father, thank You for anointing me with Your Spirit. Help me to see myself the way You see me: chosen, empowered, and sent for a purpose. Give me boldness to live with kingdom impact this week. In Jesus’ name, amen.
