Breaking the Curse of Poverty
Dear Church Family and Friends
God is calling us to simplify our lives and unify as we get out of debt. As we stand together upon the word of God it is important to have a financial plan. This plan helps us shift our thinking and leave poverty and learn kingdom principles regarding wealth. To be free of debt we must change our thinking, practices and financial objectives. I want to share with you the example of our financial plan as a church to inspire you to develop your personal plan. I am also requesting for all of us to pray in unity for the financial future of our church. I believe that what we accomplish as a congregation will flow into every family in covenant with our church.
When we built our campus I designed it to be in use six days a week. The cost of buildings is far too high to have rooms sitting empty. Each area of the campus that is used for ministry is also used during the week which will generate income to pay off the debt of the property. We have access to five streams of income as a church. This is a model each family should employ as well.
1. Our tithes and offerings for all of our kingdom ministries
2. The cell phone tower brings in monthly revenue
3. The pre-school which doubles as our nursery
4. The school which is where we have our education classes
5. Our sports complex including our lighted softball field
One of the key components of reducing debt is to have a cash flow to pay the monthly bills plus money to put against debt. This reduces the amount of interest we will pay on the debt. Recently the school that rents our facilities has requested to pay less rent while the mortgage payment will be increasing. Here are two strategies for us to pray about as a congregation. We need to pray and decree that the school on Skyway’s campus will be filled with students and able to pay the necessary rents. Secondly, let’s pray for the Lord to give us favor with someone who would carry some or all of our campus debt. I believe it is the will of God for us to see the interest on the loan staying in the kingdom of God rather than markets of this world. Current CD’s are paying 2% or less to people putting their money in these investments. Banks want to charge us up to 7% for our mortgage. If we found a group of investors who would carry our debt at 4% we would save thousands of dollars a month and be a blessing to them. This is money we could be using to paying off debt. Once our loans are paid off we would have that money to put to use in expanding the kingdom of God. Your daily prayers in these two key areas are greatly appreciated. I am praying for your family each day as well.
