The Healing Continues!

Filed under: Pastor Greg's Blog — gbrown @ 8:38 am

I am always thankful for the mercy of God being poured out in the manifestation of physical healings in our midst. In this past year we have seen many that were going to have operations healed without ever entering a hospital… they came to the altar for prayer. I recently received this testimony that I thought all of you would enjoy. I give all glory to our Lord Jesus Christ!

It looked like Lucas would more than likely need a heart transplant. They had gone as far as they could surgically, and if the medications they had him on didn’t start helping his heart out, a transplant was the only other option. The Dr’s said he was on a “trend” and so far, it was a down hill trend. Lucas’ right ventricle had been damaged during his last operation and had lost it’s function. Now, it seemed that due to the heavy burden of having to do all the work on it’s own, the left ventricle was starting to fail as well. Lucas was born with several congenital heart defects with the most troublesome being the Mitral Valve. He’s also facing Pulmonary Hyper-Tension of the lungs due to the high pressures. We weren’t given much hope of a speedy recovery. A heart transplant seemed to loom largely in the wake of a year.

A total stranger walked into our boutique over a month ago and told us of the miracles happening at Skyway. We decided to come and see for ourselves. Upon our first visit, we fell in love with God all over again, of Skyway and all the wonderful things happening before our eyes. I have known a peace like no other since attending your church.

That being said, I would like to report that today, November 3rd, we went to Lucas’ cardiologist for his monthly visit. Lucas arrived for his 1:00 pm appt on time and sat while his cardiologist performed an E.C.H.O. Basically, it’s an ultrasound of the heart and all its functions. Lucas’ cardiologist was happy to inform his parents, Sabrina and Nathan, that Lucas’ heart seems to be HEALING!!!!! The function in both his ventricles seem to be squeezing a little now, when before, there was none! Lucas’ is no longer sweating like a bucket of water was just tossed on him, because his heart isn’t having to work as hard. Lucas has even gained a few pounds, when before it took him a year just to get a pound on and keep it on. Praise GOD! A miracle has occurred!!! We still have a ways to go, because the heart is still not functioning normally, but there by the Grace of GOD goes Lucas! We prayed that God would heal Lucas’ ailing heart and the miracle is now happening. All Glory and Praise to God.

We wanted to share this testimonial with you Pastor Greg, because we know we were sent to your church and to you, so that miracle could be performed there and, that through our voices, people will continue to hear about the miracles occurring at your church and believe again. I cannot express into words what my heart and spirit are trying to convey to you. Words escape me, as a renewed faith and love fill my very soul.

God Bless you and your congregation! We’ll see you this coming Sunday.

Rosemary Ulibarri

The Healing of America

Filed under: Pastor Greg's Blog — gbrown @ 8:31 am

November 4th represented a historic moment for the United States of America when Barack Obama was elected as the first African American to the highest political office in our nation. This vote came from all the people of America; representing all colors of skin and ethnic backgrounds, ages and economic status, male and female to declare a clear voice that America is the land of opportunity and freedom for all people. This vote reveals that America can transcend her history of racial prejudice. I believe that this is a moment of answered prayers to release healing to the souls of many individuals who have suffered in ways that some may not know or understand. This can open the doors for pulling down of the strongholds of racial tension in our land. This is my prayer for America; “Lord let your healing begin to heal all that divides our nation. Let your outpouring of mercy open our hearts to your redemptive purposes through Jesus Christ your Son. Let this be the beginning of a season of national peace that leads to a another Great Awakening in our nation.” God has blessed this nation with benefits no other current country knows. Let’s believe this is the first of many more great moves of healing in our midst.

America Needs God’s Love

Filed under: Pastor Greg's Blog — gbrown @ 2:13 pm

As the next major election of the United States of America approaches, my greatest desire is that the grace of God will be upon our nation. It is my prayer that we as a people will love justice, hate evil and pray for mercy. The last year has been filled with so many inflammatory remarks about what we should believe about someone else most Americans are lacking in trust and being much divided. I have heard some say, “I don’t know what I believe.” In this midst of this storm I see a rescuing beacon if we will move toward God calls to love each other with his love.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV)
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails.

It is interesting that the biblical definition of love starts with words which describe what misses the mark and then it ends with words that show us what it really looks like. The entire thirteenth chapter of First Corinthians is inserted in a place where the zeal for being spiritual and used of God is actually measured against a standard of who God truly is; love. Sometimes we are so caught up in being a Christian that we might lose awareness of what a Christian looks like to others watching and listening to us on a daily basis. Do others see us as patient with those that differ from us? Do we seem boastful or proud in a way that turns others away from Jesus? Have we learned to justify being rude because we believe we are right? Have we told others that our anger was God’s anger? Do we keep track of the times we have been offended and then give it right back to others the way we perceive they gave it to us?  It is so easy to fall into these traps in this modern day of the loudest voice must be the right voice. The world may not be following the way of love but we are not called to follow the world. Verse seven gives us direction towards true love. True love creates security for those who come in contact with it. It gives people an anchor to trust in God while the winds are blowing uncertainty in our face. It fixes our hope as a genuine expectation that good will prevail before this comes to an end. This hope gives us the strength to keep going forward when our circumstances try to convince us to quit. Finally, the love of God will never fail. God has a redemptive plan for all of man and it will be fulfilled. I would ask everyone who calls themselves a Christian to adjust how we look in the mirror of God’s love before we go out to meet our day. This will have as powerful an impact on our nation as the vote we will cast on November 4. One day we will all stand before our maker and he will ask us this question. “How did you love others while on the earth?” Let’s vote with our conscience on Election Day and with our conduct every single day. This is how we all can contribute to the healing of America’s soul.

Seven Steps to Experience a New Life

Filed under: Pastor Greg's Blog — gbrown @ 11:41 am

We are in a great season of seeing many people come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. This is very exciting for all of us. Four years ago I did a five part series called the Keys to Understanding which we have given away the hundreds who have made decisions for Jesus Christ in our services. Today I am doing a new single message called Seven Steps…To experience a new life! This one message will cover the seven key concepts every Christian needs to grasp in order to see their life changed by the power of God. This message will also be translated into Spanish! We are going to put the notes into a small booklet that will be the first devotional for the new Christians to read. All of this will be put onto our web site for people to log on and watch at any time and they can download the booklet right on line. It is my desire that this simple message filled with many scriptures will be used of the Lord to help thousands make a sound decision for Jesus Christ and see them walk in victory as a new creation. I am excited to have all of you with me today as we create this new project together. You may want to use this as a witnessing tool to share with your friends and family as well!

Harvest Festival 08

Filed under: Pastor Greg's Blog — gbrown @ 11:34 am

On Friday October 31st we will be hosting our annual Harvest Festival at Skyway Church from 6 – 9 PM. Many of you have been a part of this in the past but for those who have not been with us, it is bigger than anything we do all year. Last year the AZ Republic listed it as one of the top five places to go in the Valley. In this event we host about three thousand people free of charge for a great evening of family fun. The food is grilled burgers and hot dogs and the aroma goes up and over our city throughout the night! I have had many friends in ministry attend our outreach and marvel at the organization and dedication from our membership. This is the key to our success. There is a place for every member of Skyway to personally participate. It starts with everyone bringing the bags of candy between now and then and it ends with the cleaning crews that leave the campus immaculate once we leave for the night. It is very important to sign up at the volunteer table for your portion of time to serve in the evening; this requires hundreds of volunteers. We rely upon all our members coming out and inviting guests to come as well, this is how we have so many each year. It is our personal touch that makes it so special. We will have prayer partners available throughout the night and I expect to hear reports of miracles and salvation. Our city needs to see Jesus in a relevant way. We have so many problems in our world, for one night, everyone can be united around the joy of the Lord though our congregation to the community. Together we are making a bright light for our everyone to see the Lord. Thank you for making all possible.
